Six top international universities win fuel cell to take part in the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell championship Formula Zero B.V., the company that is developing this new category of zero emission racing, is organizing the world's first hydrogen fuel cell-powered championship, stimulating the introduction of this radical technology. Formula Zero will launch the Student Edition in 2008, in which university teams around the world will design and build a hydrogen fuel cell kart. As this innovative, clean technology develops, the race class will scale up to City and Circuit Editions.
After months of hard work and effort from university teams around the world, the Formula Zero Design Jury is proud to announce the six teams who have won a Hydrogenics HyPM 8 fuel cell, financed with the support of the Rotterdam Climate Initiative. These teams are now eligible to enter the 2008 Formula Zero Championship.
The Design Jury has examined a large amount of drawings, schematics, photos and text submitted by the university teams. The main objective of the Formula Zero Design Competition was to lead the teams to a safe, reliable kart design, solid team structure and successful funding strategy.

Over the coming months these engineers of the future will be building their hydrogen fuel cell karts, preparing to take part in the Championship events, currently being organized in cities around the world.
The dates and locations of the Formula Zero Championship events will be announced in the coming weeks, keep an eye on the Formula Zero website. The city of Rotterdam is to host the world premier, sponsored by the Rotterdam Climate Initiative.
